March Movie Madness: What IS the Best Sports Movie of All-time?

It's the beginning of March and thus the beginning of one of the best times of the year for sports fans.  March Madness is right around the corner, and with it comes futile office pools, countless brackets and frenzied revisions to said brackets until they're just right.  I'm no different.  I love the brackets and the predicting and debating and all that the Madness entails.  Having said that, it only makes sense to do a tournament determining the best sports movie ever.  Similarly to the NCAA tournament, there will be snubs and entries that will prove to be controversial.  But save your breath!  The field has been set, and the best you can do is verbalize your displeasure with me here on the blog or on the facebook page.  Seedings will be released later this week, when you'll be able to vote on and discuss the round-by-round match ups.  Without further ado, I give you the field of 64 in alphabetical order:

  1. The NCAA tournament has more than 64, so we need to add a few more teams.

  2. Yeah, but that part of the tournament is stupid. Here at Reel Interludes, we do it the way it
's supposed to be done. Who would you add to the field, by the way???

  3. ROCKY BALBOA! The best of the Rocky movies with the exception of the first one (and I'm not totally sold on the order of that). 3 and 4 shouldn't be on this list...but Rocky Balboa definitely deserves a spot! All the rest, sure whatever...Robert is just happy that you put The Replacements up here.

  4. I really enjoyed "Balboa," a great way to come back and end the series after the laughable Rocky V, but it obviously didn't make the cut. I'm doing a commentary this week explaining all the snubs, so I'll go into detail about it then. What do you mean Rocky IV shouldn't be there??? That movie is the most quotable out of all of 'em. The fight with the Russian is iconic!!!

  5. It just doesn't compare to Rocky Balboa...in my humble, non-movie-blogger opinion. Agreed on the iconic Russian fight...
